At 28, James I, King of Aragon, Catalonia and Majorca, undertakes what will be his most difficult venture yet, a feat his entire lineage has dreamt of: conquering the Taifa of Valencia. After years of campaigning, he arrives at the gates of the Valencian capital with the intention of besieging it until it surrenders. The noblemen who accompany him, however, are greedy and will spill blood and ignite fire to increase their privileges at the expense of his power. As a skilled strategist and with the unconditional support of his innermost circle, James I manages to overcome his noblemen's ambition and conquer Valencia without bloodshed.
