There is a dissident and combative Catalunya, that lives on and resists under the layer of official debate. A Catalunya where — from the time of the fallacy of Transition— disobedience, dissidence and self organisation in the face of poverty have been, and are, palpable, as are the repressive methods to eradicate them. Rebels sets out, as a feature length documentary, to get to the bottom of this story and to explore what we find, with a zoom lens focussed on the last four decades. Social movements vs the system and the system vs social movements; we establish links between the past and present, in a Catalunya which does not give up, which creates alternatives, which resists.
