In France, there exists a reality unbeknownst to most: more than 20,000 Catalan-speaking people of gypsy ethnicity reside there. Many of them define themselves as Catalan gypsies, while others are unaware of their origins. All, however, have preserved the Catalan language for generations. This linguistic curiosity differentiates them as a community, allowing them to speak amongst themselves without being understood by those around them. The aim of this documentary is to shed light on this European cultural reality, as well as to further understand how this group of Catalan-speaking gypsies have maintained their roots through so many generations and what their future challenges are.
