In Toloriu, a village in the Catalan Pyrenees, there's a legend that tells of Xipahuatzin, the daughter of Aztec emperor Moctezuma, brought there by Baron Joan de Grau, who was one of Hernán Cortés's companions during the Conquest of Mexico. Years after her arrival, the princess died of sadness, perhaps because she never got used to the cold mountain winters. I moved from Mexico to Spain three years ago. I've decided to go and explore the place where the princess lived. At the same time, I am discovering these mountains in the same way as the characters tell this story. The film deals with human relationships in the spaces we inhabit, the places that we want to feel are ours. We fill them with meanings, memories and stories. What is a homeland, a nation or a community, if not a place within ourselves?
